Many people in Bamberg still remember the "Bamberger Hofbräu", which for a long time was the largest brewery in the Upper Franconian beer town. The art of brewing was discontinued there in the 1970s, but today it is revitalised by the Weyermann malt factory, which has secured the trademark rights to the name "Bamberger Hofbräu". It is Weyermann's ambition to preserve the traditional beer styles of the brand, so the beers are brewed in the brewery according to the original recipes from historical grain varieties.
